Zimmerman Reed is pleased to announce that Michael Laird and Chuck Toomajian have been named Partners of the firm, effective January 1, 2024. “Both Michael and Chuck exemplify the firm’s culture, and both have brought exceptional creativity and dedication to their practices and to the clients they serve,” said Managing Partner Gordon Rudd.
Laird came to ZR in 2016 as an associate where he has focused on complex class actions and multi-district litigation in the areas of sports law, data breach and privacy, and consumer protection. In his years at ZR, Laird has represented and won settlement awards for former NFL players suffering from cognitive decline and certified a nationwide class of financial institutions in a data breach action. He is currently a court-appointed member of the leadership committees in a consumer data breach action against ParkMobile, a healthcare data breach action against Independent Living Systems, and a large, multi-district litigation involving Elanco and its allegedly harmful flea and tick pet collar.
Toomajian joined ZR in 2017 as an associate in the firm’s Public Client practice group. In his time at the firm, he has represented the State of Minnesota in its litigation against Juul and Altria for deceptively marketing e-cigarettes and targeting Minnesota’s youth, and has represented two states in opioids litigation, holding companies responsible for their deceptive marketing, distribution, and sale of the addictive drugs. Toomajian also represents whistleblowers who come forward to report fraud against state and federal governmental programs.
